Have had a wonderful creative beginning to the year with classes in all sorts of places! Started with teaching on a fabulous cruise to South East Asia followed by some of my own studio classes .I have picked a few photos to share before I head off to the Northern Hemisphere to holiday and be a guest tutor in Norway, Scotland and the UK as well as attending a meeting of volunteer Regional co-ordinators of the International Feltmakers Association .
Studio Classes at The Felt Studio…my home studio in Queensland Australia.
Next we had the Samford and Surrounds Arts Trail and Open Studio event, where my studio was open for the month of June on the weekends. This will be an annual event! It was so successful for everyone involved and brought such a buzz to our town!Keep next June free to visit! I will hold some small workshops during this time next year as well.
Then it was Brisbane Girls Grammar teaching for Koala Conventions which was a great event as usual. Am always so amazed and inspired with everyone’s creativity. As a tutor, my wish is that everyone will embrace their own style and imagination in class. I think we certainly achieved this! These wraps were all hand laid -no needle felted batts were used.A great learning for everyone!
Next stop was Warwick teaching slippers and wraps at The Jumpers and Jazz festival. It is a wonderful blessing to travel and teach and learn about the world, meeting fabulous inspiring people along the way!
In between all this travel ,I have been working on entries for this years Royal Queensland Show. I have just found out today that I won First prize in the Pioneer Wool Craft Section with my piece Minjerribah Dreaming and The Painterly vase,Third prize. It comes with two lovely monetary gifts which are very welcome! I feel very honored to work in such a wonderful medium that allows my creativity on all levels to blossom. My pieces in the other sections did well and are all on display at the Ekka this year. Do pop in to have a look if you are at the show.
