It seems the year is flying by very fast. At last some images of my felt work from the studio …………
It is lovely having a sabbatical from teaching. More time to make and a lot less paperwork.Playing with a lot of textured work and refining my long term techniques working with silk and wool combinations. The bottom picture is flowery scarves made by students on the cruise I taught on in February! I have a new facebook link… https://www.facebook.com/thefeltstudio ….Please like and share -everything you do helps me to spread the word about this wonderful thing called felt!
Just returned from a teaching trip to New Zealand. I cannot believe it is nearly March and I have not posted anything on my webpage! My plan for this year is to have a quieter year with no Studio teaching from my home studio and much reduced technology time so you won’t hear from me quite so much! I will be focusing on making.. So here are some images from pieces I made late last year-hold mouse over for description.Enjoy! The first image is inspired by Pam de Groot and a class I hosted in my studio with her.Brooches were inspired by Lisa Klakulak.
Well……I have been busy making all sorts of felty goodies for my exhibition with Sharyn Hall . Only two weeks to go ! I have been preparing for Jorie Johnson’s visit to The Felt Studio-so looking forward to it.I will post some images when class is done. My planned sabbatical from teaching in the studio is underway and I must admit I am really looking forward to focusing purely on my own work. You really do need to recharge the batteries once in a while when you are a teacher and this is my time to do so.Please click on the newsletter tab to read more of my plans. Here are some photos to tempt you to visit our exhibition….or maybe just tempt you to make a new piece of felt! Please see the events section for details of the exhibition.

Due to last minute cancellations ,October 25th-27th, I have two spaces available in Jorie’ s amazing class! Jorie is world renowned for her felt making and this is truly an event not to be missed.
Her book is a tried and tested book that all who have made felt for a long time can attest to.She is coming all the way from Japan and you will be assured of a treat !If you are interested please email me!
Jorie and some of her beautiful work!
The class theme will relate to felt as art objects and we will explore color, layering, thickness/thinness, tails, reserve design, and the class will be open on any points that you want to present. Jorie has asked us to bring examples of small pieces which inspire us or a motif we recognize as something that comes up often in our work. Let’s search for our personal imagery through life experiences and natural phenomenon!
How Exciting ! Hope you can join us.
Just back from 5 days at the 12th Southern Hemisphere Felters’ Convergence at Stanwell Tops in NSW. What a great week!Lots of learning and lovely people to meet with. I taught two sessions on felting samples….and the importance of samples in the progressing of your textile work.
Enjoyed seeing the community Yurt erected and enjoyed once again its gentle presence.A lovely quiet spot to hide!

Life is amazing, exciting and full of change . Have been feeling for quite a while now that I need to have a break from teaching to concentrate fully on my own work. As you all know I love teaching and I love my students ,so this is a difficult decision but also not so hard because I know it really is time .
So I have decided.
I am ceasing monthly teaching in my studio from my July 2013 classes.I will still be teaching for Toowoomba Spinners and Weavers in August and in Noosa in September .
I will also still be teaching for Koala Conventions and my cruise class in 2014. My guest Tutor classes will stay the same.
So wish me well….I will keep you up to date with my work through my blog as always! I am making space and making a slight change of direction for a bit.I do not know what is around the corner but I know intuitively I need to make the space and see what comes. It is exciting and it’s a little scary. Wish me luck !!
